Shimoda city - Hotspring resort -
I had a chance to go to Shimoda city with family.
Shimoda is a somewhat sleepy resort city at the southern terminus of the JR line.
The first Us consul general , Townsend Harris, was based here, arriving in 1856.
This was the first permanent foreign consulate in Japan, chosen by the Shogun in part for its remoteness and its distance from center of Shogunate capital.

The patron of Kofukuji was Fujiwara clan who got the power in the 7th century and dominated during next 500 years, Even after the capital moved to Kyoto, The Fujiwara clan continued to support Kofukuji as the family temple.
Five-story pagoda , built in 1426.
There are many deer, walk around the Nara park.
