In the Edo period, there was highway linked between Tokyo and Kyoto, Sections of the highway and post stations, towns which used to offer food and lodging to travelers, survive in the Kiso Valley of Nagano, Magome and Tsumago are the two most beautifully preserved post towns and are connected with each other.

Nikko

It takes about 2,5 hours from Tokyo to the North, It is very famous place which is situated on the foot of Mt Nantai,Japan's most beautiful decorated shrine complex and mausoleum of Tokugawa Ieyasu who is the founder of Tokugawa dynasty.Nikko has been a center of Shinto and Buddhist mountain worship for many centuries. It is a place with the atmosphere in the Edo period.
