Rabbit Island and Nostalgic Towns around Hiroshima 2 Days from 2 Persons
Okunoshima Island is known as a rabbit island because there are about 1,000 rabbits live. It is said 8 rabbits kept by at the elementary school were released and has become feral. It is a paradise if you love small animals. Onomichi is a town spreading on the hill. It is regarded as a nostalgic town with old temples and houses. Many movies were filmed there. Onomichi is facing to the Seto Inland Sea. Next morning you can enjoy one-hour cruise from Onomichi to Tomonoura. Tomonoura keeps old atmosphere with traditional houses. If you are anime fan, one of the Ghibli movies, Ponyo was made after the director Miyazaki was inspired by the good old atmosphere of this town. The followings are the special features of the tour.
1. You can enjoy famous rabbit island.
2. Onomichi is a town on the hill, so you can go up to the top of the town by the cable car and enjoy walking down with the nice view of the ocean.
3. Tomonoura is another beautiful town. You can visit these two nostalgic towns using cruise boat.

After breakfast at the hotel, you take a cruise boat from Onomichi. It takes about one hour to Tomonoura. During the cruise, you can enjoy nice view of the islands on the Seto Inland Sea. Tomonoura is another nostalgic port town. Not like Onomichi, it is a flat town. Hayao Miyazaki, the Ghibli animator made “Ponyo” inspired by the nice atmosphere of the town. From Tomonoura, you can go to Fukuyama Station by bus. It takes about 30 minutes to go back to Hiroshima, but you can go to Osaka or Kyoto by Shinkansen, too.
