Nakasendo is an old trail constructed 400 years ago by the Tokugawa Shogunate as one of the major routes between Edo (Tokyo now) and Kyoto. It was a long route, the total length was 526 km with 69 post towns in between. Because of the construction of the new highways and freeways, most of the route disappeared or covered with the concrete, but the part in Nagano and Gifu prefectures still remains as of feudal time because of the location in the mountains. The followings are the special features of this private tour.
1. Visiting 3 of the most well-preserved post towns; Narai, Tsumago, and Magome.
2. Visiting the well-preserved part of Nakasendo Trail. On the route, you walk through the forest, see waterfalls and idyllic rural life with rice and vegetable fields.
3. Visiting Matsumoto Castle which is one of the only 12 original castles remaining in Japan.
4. This is a self-guided tour for groups >2 participants. We prepare detail of the tour and an English hiking map. It is easy to follow the trail by the map.

Our guide pick you up at your hotel in Matsumoto and drop off at Nagoya station.

EXTENDED PLAN

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Arrival/Departure: We start the tour in Matsumoto and finish at Nagoya Station. If you need a hotel and transfer, we can arrange it upon request.

45-31 days prior to arrival date in Japan: 10% of the tour fee
30-15 days prior to arrival date in Japan: 20% of the tour fee

7 – 3 days prior to arrival date in Japan: 50% of the tour fee
<3 days prior to arrival date in Japan: 100% of the tour fee
